Group Blogs are blogs with multiple users able to access them. Any blog can be converted to a group blog simply by inviting users.
To add a member to a group blog, first make sure the blog you want to add people to is active, and go to its settings paeg.
Scroll down to the Group Blog section. If you already have members, they'll show here.To add another user, simply type their blog name and hit invite. Now, all you have to do is wait until they accept the invitation.
Accepting a Group Blog Invitation
Once you've been invited to a group blog, the invitation will show in your user settings. Head to your account settings page. If you have an invite pending, you'll see a section for them. Simply hit the accept button next to the invite and you'll be a member of the blog automatically, with a basic set of privileges.
Be aware - Joining a blog reveals whatever your main blog is to the other members!
Group Blogs - Permissions and Ownership
There are two roles for group blogs - Owner and Member.
The owner role is the user who the blog belongs to, and their power is absolute - they don't need a separate permissions list and are granted full authority over the blog. Owners can add or remove members at will, including members with the Administrator role.
Members are everyone else, and have a granular permissions list that the Owner or an Admin must set after they join a blog. The following permissions are implicit by being a member of a blog:
- Switch to the blog
- Read posts as the blog
- Like posts as the blog
- Follow and Unfollow from the blog
Of particular note is the Administrator permission - this role, while it doesn't grant the other permissions itself, allows the member to edit the blog settings, including adding other members and granting them permissions - and even altering their own. Be sure you only give this role to people you trust.
Blog owners can grant further permissions to individual members, depending on the role the member has in the running of the blog. Permissions can be set for members by pressing the "edit permissions" button next to their name in the members list.
Leaving a Group Blog
As the owner or administrator of a group blog, you can kick members from the member list.
If you want to leave a blog you're a member of, you can do so from the user settings page. Scroll down to the Group Blogs section, and tap the "Leave Blog" button for the blog you don't want to be a member of anymore.
