Waterfall has two systems to showcase art, or other posts that are noteworthy.
Featured posts are chosen by the site staff, and are displayed at random either in the sidebar on desktop, or as the final post on the dashboard on mobile. In the app, a featured post shows once every 25 posts.
Featured posts are largely art that stands out in some way - excellence is subjective, but there should be a good mix in there at any given time.
Adult or pornographic art can be featured, but will only be displayed to people who explicitly opt in. If you're interested in seeing it, head to your user settings and enable "Allow explicit features". Be aware that this option is only available to users over the age of eighteen for legal reasons, and the setting is global to your account and any device you use.
If for any reason you don't want to see featured posts at all, they can be turned off in your user settings - however, it is recommended to keep them on.
How do I get featured?
All art uploaded is eligible to be featured, with nothing automatically disqualified. Submitted art is periodically reviewed and features refreshed, with the best of the lot added to the roster.
Newly uploaded art, and art that's not chosen to be featured, can be found in the dedicated Discovery section. This section works the way the featured posts worked in the Beta, where any post that meets a minimum amount of notes will show up here. If you want to find new artists, this is the place to do it.
An optional mode can be enabled that removes the note limit for what art is shown. However, be warned - this means everything that's uploaded as an art post will be shown, and may include shocking or mistagged content that hasn't been reported, or is awaiting moderation.
